Kas Design, LLC, a leading digital creative agency based in Freehold, NJ, today announced that it has been awarded Outstanding Achievement in Website Development by the Interactive Media Awards™ for its work on the GymClean.com Website. The honor recognizes that the project exceeded the standards of excellence that comprise the web’s most professional work. The site was honored specifically for excellence in E-Commerce.

The judging consisted of various criteria, including design, usability, innovation in technical features, standards compliance and content. In order to win this award level, the site had to meet strict guidelines in each area — an achievement only a small fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each year.

Jeff Kastning, Jeff Kastning, Creative Director of Kas Design, LLC, said, "It's an honor to have our work recognized by the Interactive Media Awards. We feel strongly that our projects are examples of how the Internet can be used to enhance a company's message and branding. Recognition from the IMA is further proof of this."

Kas Design is proud to announce the site launch of WSW Delivery, an e-commerce web site. Kas Design was responsible for the web design, e-commerce platform, and hosting.

The site, www.wswdelivery.com, was designed to enhance the user experience, making it faster and easier for visitors to find the products they're looking for. Kas Design incorporated an accordion-style navigation system in order to allow visitors to view and get to other sub-categories from any page. The rotating banners on the home page showcase WSW's latest specials and new products.

Since 1903, WSW Delivery has delivered quality products and convenience to their customers. They selected us to help improve the presentation and user experience of their e-commerce site. The redesign included adding new features such as a rotating banner on the home page, along with an accordion-style navigation that allows visitors to quickly and easily get to other categories.

Thank you.

Thank you for your interest in our services. Your request has been sent and is on its way to us. We'll likely have more questions and will want to set up a date and time to talk in depth about the scope of work.

We look forward to speaking with you.

During Google’s Atmosphere 2010 Conference on Monday, Google’s CEO, Eric Schmidt, said Google was “particularly paranoid” about being the victim of an attack late last year by hackers. The attack resulted in some of Google’s intellectual property being stolen.

The cause: a flaw in Internet Explorer 6.

While the flaw was quickly patched, the damage had already been done. More than 30 other U.S. companies are believed to have been targets of the same attacks. However, Google was one of the few to identify themselves as a victim. 1

Add to that, Apple dropping IE6 support for its web apps and Facebook warning users to upgrade or switch browsers, and it seems the writing is on the wall.

IE6 has long been a throne in the side of the web design and development community. Due to the enormous list of bugs and lack of support for modern web technologies, extra work is required to get sites to display correctly in IE6. Nine years after it was introduced, it still doesn't fully support CSS standards established in 1996.

However, as responsible web designers and developers, we’ve had to continue supporting IE6 due to its popularity and extremely slow decline in use. As of January 2010, it still had 18% 2 of the market share among browsers.

The good news is IE6’s market share has dropped dramatically in the U.S. in the last few months to just under 8% 3. The user enhancements and increased security of IE7 and 8, combined with companies dropping IE6, will further reduce its share in the coming months. Good news for users and web design agencies alike.

Kas Design, LLC, a digital creative agency, is proud to announce they will again be working with the Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors® (GPAR) to redesign their web site, www.gpar.org.

Kas Design first worked with GPAR on the redesign of their site back in 2007. Since then, the advancement of new technologies and the growth of the association have prompted the need for a redesign.

Kas Design will be providing a new user-friendly interface that provides members with easier access to more information. In addition, Kas Design will be integrating a new content management system that allows GPAR staff to regularly update and maintain the site.

A new calendar system will replace GPAR's current system. The new system will make it easy for staff to add recurring events as well as those that happen at specific different dates throughout the year. "We're happy to be working with GPAR again on their web site and are looking forward to improving it for both members and visitors," said Jeff Kastning, Creative Director of Kas Design, LLC.

About The Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors®

The Greater Philadelphia Association of REALTORS® (GPAR), founded in 1908, is a membership organization whose purpose is to provide education, information, and legislative monitoring for licensed real estate professionals and related service providers in the Greater Philadelphia area. Widely considered as the “Voice For Real Estate in Philadelphia.” GPAR has grown to become the most influential professional real estate association in Philadelphia.

Kas Design is proud to announce the site launch of AutoPRIVILEGES, a unique interactive online experience that lets users learn about cars, earn points and win prizes. Kas Design was responsible for the web design and branding, while G4 Connect's in-house programmers provided the interactive flash platform on which the site runs.

The site, www.autoprivileges.net, was designed to provide a fun, interactive, user-friendly online experience. Part of that experience involved illustrating a site host named "Bernie" to help guide users throughout the site and encourage participation. Bernie appears throughout the site, providing comments to visitors as they learn and earn points.

G4 Connect, a cutting-edge engagement advertising agency, came to us to redesign and rebrand their AutoPRIVILEGES website. We worked within certain size requirements to create a clean, user-friendly site that doesn't crowd or overwhelm visitors.

Part of creating a fun, interactive experience required we create a character to interact with visitors and act as a guide, encouraging participation in earning points and winning prizes.

It seems like we have passwords for everything these days (emails, web sites, banking/credit cards, computers, etc). So, when we received notice of an article on password security, we thought it was worth mentioning. The article is entitled "How I'd Hack Your Weak Passwords."

Aside from breaking down how easy it is to guess about 20% of users passwords outright, the article also explains how using a Brute Force Attack can be used. For a 7 letter password comprised of only lower case letters, it would take a little over 2 hours to crack a password. Reducing the length from 7 to 6 characters cuts the time down to just over 5 minutes. Pretty scary stuff.

The Good News

The good news is by making a few minor adjustments, you can make your password much more difficult to crack. By adding just 1 number, 1 upper case letter, and 1 symbol, it would take over 2 years to crack. Three characters is all it takes to go from 2 hours to 2 years.

What you can do
  1. Check your password strength.
Microsoft has a password strength checker you can use to see whether your password is strong enough. If you're looking for tips to improve your password, they also have a page on creating strong passwords.
  2. Update your passwords.
Obviously, the more often you update the better. However, that can get overwhelming. We'd shoot for about every 3-4 months or so.
  3. Avoid these common entries:
    • Your (or your partner's or child's) name, or birthday
    • Your city, college, or favorite sports team name

For over 3 decades, Two River Allergy and Asthma Group has treated and empowered patients of all ages to control their own health issues. They asked us to create a new web presence that embodied their friendly, personal service and dedication to their patients well being. A user-friendly content management system allows the doctors to maintain the site as well as their blog.

Pebble Creek Golf Club sets the standard for public golf. Unfortunately, their website wasn't up to par. We worked with PCGC to establish a clean, elegant, web presence that encourages visitors to book their tee time online and sign up for club specials. The results: more traffic, both to the website and the course.

Kas Design is proud to announce the launch of their newly redesigned site: www.kasdesign.com. The new site incorporates the latest web technologies as well as an updated content management system. The expanded site provides prospective clients with more information about Kas Design's services, processes, work, clients, and recognition.

The web design 'Work' section took advantage of AJAX to provide one-click access to all other web projects from each individual project page. The identity section was redesigned to showcase each identity in a large lightbox without having to leave the page.

The 'About' section was expanded to include the process, notes on working with Kas Design, clients, awards, frequently asked questions, and news.

The 'Quote Request' page was also modified to make requesting a quote quick and easy.

Every second your web site is down, you're losing opportunities, revenue and the confidence of your visitors and users. Our ultra-redundant network's topology and configuration automatically adjusts in response to traffic pattern changes, allowing us to prevent your site from crashing or going offline.

The Need for Speed

We also use only high-performance bandwidth, something most cheaper hosting providers don't use. Low-performance bandwidth equates to slower site load times and slower overall operation, forcing visitors to wait longer than they should to view your site. Our Proactive Network Management monitors route efficiency and end-user performance, providing you with the fastest and most reliable network connections.

Please note that our Service Level Agreement does not cover coding or configuration errors on your site, and like all hosts, we may schedule occasional maintenance windows that will affect the availability of some services. Since we operate clusters of servers, maintenance that causes downtime should be very rare.

Strong brand recognition, positioning, customer loyalty, and the perception of quality start with a distinctive visual identity. We listen and ask questions to help you define your message and clearly convey who you are as a company.

Emotional Response

People buy based on emotion and rationalize the buying decision based on facts. Customers will develop an opinion of your brand within the first few seconds of viewing it. We help you make a positive, lasting impression that not only conveys your company's core values and strengths, but instills trust, comfort and confidence.

In today’s world of constant change and immediate updates, keeping your web site fresh and relevant is a must. Our content management systems (CMS) enable non-technical staff to easily update and maintain your site.

While most content management systems force you to work a certain way, we adapt the content management system to fit your specific needs.

CMS = ROI

Our content management systems generate a return on investment based on:

  • Reduced web production costs
  • Process efficiencies
  • Accelerated time to market

Your Investment

We base our cost on the complexity of scope and the estimated amount of time needed to complete the project based on historical data.

Engagement Methods

Our preferred engagement model is retainer or fixed fee.

  • Fixed Fee:
The fixed fee option allows you to pay a fixed cost for a project with a specific budget and duration.
  • Retainer Program:
Our retainer program is a popular option for clients with ongoing branding, marketing, design, or technology needs. We provide a variable monthly block of time where you can task us with any project that falls under our capabilities. Unused time will roll over to the next month up until the completion of the specified term (6 or 12 months).

Do you provide multiple design comps?

No. We prefer quality to quantity. As you’ll see in our process, we spend a great deal of time before the design work even begins to ensure the design we provide is exactly what you’re looking for. This approach produces a superior design as opposed to several mediocre ones.

Can you work with my IT department to launch the site?

Yes, we will gladly work with your IT department to ensure a smooth transition from our staging server to your production server.
